Action Packed!!

First thoughts:

I didn't know anything about this book before reading it, I hadn't heard about it from anyone but when I saw it on Amazon I thought it sounded interesting and gave it a shot. And boy was this a action packed book filled with dark and sinister images. The story was interesting in itself, it provided a since of doom and darkness, definately not a fluff book and for those who enjoy romance, this is not the book for you. The plot is complicated and fast, there isn't any time really to just sit there and absorb everything that happens. I couldn't really connect with many of the characters because I didn't know much about them, the inner beings of them were sealed shut almost, they opened themselves up a few times but quickly shut themselves back up. I really wanted to connect with them but there just wasn't enough description and explanation on who they were and how they were coping with everything. The dialogue was good, I didn't really see anything wrong with it and there was some inner dialogue that gave us a quick glimse in what the character was thinking, allowing the reader to grasp a little of that characters dimension. The idea of this was interesting and its not something you see in a oridnary plot and I liked that. I liked to see a new world where love isn't the center of attention and happiness isn't always there. I like to see things go wrong, it makes it more realistic. This story was in three perspectives and I thought that was a really good idea because all three charcters were inter-connected. Though we didn't get good insight of the characters at one time it did allows us to inter-connect the three storylines so that by the end we would get a sense of what was going on and the implication involved. Something else I liked was the authors choice of third person, it really allowed us to see what was going on even if the main character was perhaps out of focus, it was really well thought out.

Summary:

This story was in the perspectives of Lissa, Hikari, and Connor. Each of them had their own story and background but all three of htem had a common goal and trait.

Lissa has been isolated her whole life in a compound, all she knows really is her parents and their friends. But the story opens up to Lissa losing them, she's on the run in search of "them" the people her parents said would be looking for her. And when she is being chased by the people who killed her family she thinks its the end that is until Gideon comes in and rescues her. Soon Lissa is taken down underground to a secret society where she learns of who she is and what she posses. And Gideon is assigned for her training and the two of them spend three months together and through that time Lissa starts to feel something; something she's never felt before.

Hirkari lives a high end life her dad's a congress man and her and her six year old brother have life just fine. But soon Kari discovers secrets her dad has been hiding and with the help of her brother and friends they too will start their journey of danger and suspense. And in seach of answers that are hidden in the depths Kari learns something about herself and what she had never known about her past.

Connor is a celebrity tv star, but the screaming 13 years are getting to him, he doesn't want to be in the lime-light any longer. And when his off and on again girlfriend Joanne shows up offering him an oprtunity to get out of his contract he decides to check it out. But that's where his trouble begins, he gets sucked up into the world of descrution, forced to discover he is and be used just like a toy of a child.

The three of them learn of who they're apart of; the Lux and with that comes great responsibility and danger. The three of them must in their own world stop the one thing threatning to destroy not only America but also the entire world. But can they accept who they are before it's too late? Or is too late to save anyone?

Last thoughts:

It was an intriguing read over all, I liked the fresh plotline and end. I'm still reeling from the end, I'm still trying to even absorb all that happened in this story. It was very much a short fast paced book, something anyone could take the time to read. Other than a few flaws I enjoyed the story and think that perhaps more will be explained in depth in the second installment. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I would recommend this to those of you thrill seekers and also anyone who just likes a short fun read. I wouldn't recommend this to people who love romances or is expecting an in-depth story. In the end I give this book 3.5 stars. Perhaps in a few days I will think it over and give it a higher rating but till then it is what it is.

Different....But Good

First thoughts:

It was a good book overall, the first half of the book was a little hard to get through but on towards the middle point I read through it like a speed demon. So much happened in this book, Becca Fitzpatrick took these characters to a new level, creating a much more in depth perspective. The plot thickens even more in this book, ideas and questions are spread out wide. Characters are pressed to their limits and the plot dunks and soars throughout the entire book. This book definately had a dark feel to it, remorse was inevitable and danger was a given. The writing itself was just as good as the first too but I do believe there was a more senstive touch to it, it seemed like the author connected with the inner feelings of the characters better in this book. One thing I didn't like was the fact that the beginning was so different, so out of the norm of the first two. It was wierd to see the one character I have grown to love change so dramastically, it was kind of a shock and it brought out both anger and remorse but as the story progressed she did begin to morph back but not ever as she was before. She had aquired another trait that she didn't have before, something I now consider a battle scar. One thing I did love was the fact that some information was given to us in this book, I felt near the end I got a better understanding on some stuff I hadn't known in the previous books. As for the dialogue it was believeable but nothing that stood out from the description and inner thoughts of the characters the author used. The twists in this story were a lot better than in the first two, there were some things I seriously didn't see coming, it made it for a more exciting and interesting read. The ending was decent, it didn't leave with a huge cliffhanger for which I am grateful but it did leave for the opening of the fourth book. Which though some people seem to not like I quite find it exciting. To be with Patch and Nora more will be fun, to see what becomes of them after all that happens to them will be interesting indeed. And there is one thing I have to say before I move on to the summary the title of this book fit perfectly with it. The title was so true and deep to the story, it really forshadows the intensity and darkness of the story to come.

Summary:

Nora's is within death, Hank A.K.A "The Black Hand" is ready to kill his own daughter but Patch strikes a deal with him to spare her life and that is where this book picks up.

Nora awakens in the cemetery with no memories of the last 5 months of her life. She has no idea of all that's been taken away from her. And as she is at home trying to remember all that's missing Hank shows up and starts dating her mom and though she can't remember Hank and all that he's done to her she gets the feeling he's not as sweet as he appears.

In the quest to find answers Nora finds herself in more danger than good, she starts unraveling answers but nothing that will paint the full picture. But soon people from her past show up, she uncovers things that she never thought possible. But through this whole journey the one person she will need the most is missing. Will he ever come back? Or will the journey they once had all about to end for good?

Last thoughts:

I don't want to reveal too much about this book, its better to read it; to experience the dark thoughts and people. So many new ideas and questions were brought up and thrown at the reader. I would recommend this book to fans of the series and to those of you who never thought this book could become something more than a fantasy. It was different than the first two, definately more emotional and it will be leaving you with an imprint that the others didn't. Be prepared for a new story, the next level in this world that Becca Fitzpatrick has created. I gave it 4 stars, it was different and it will take me some time to digest. Perhaps in a week or two I will give it 5 stars but for now I need to just digest all that has happened and wait till next october for the next book to be released.

First thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book, I loved just about everything about it and yes there were some things that happened in the storyline on which I wish didn't happen but in the end it was just what it needed to be. I felt all my emotions in this one and at times felt almost the need to cry because through these three books I've gotten to know the characters better, I've gotten to consider them my "Virtual" or "imaginary" friends. They are people I could only hope to be friends with. I wish they really did exist. Rachel has a talent of bringing to life her characters; of making the reader connect with them in more than one way. And I do have to admit I got to know Jerico a lot better in this book, I like him even more in this book because he opened up and truly expressed himself to Eden. He is such a sweetie, who wouldn't like him? The storyline itself was twisted and magical, so much happened in this book, so many twists that in a way I saw but didn't want to believe. As for the description it was beautiful, Rachel has a way of describing the scenery in a way that it makes you believe you're there; you forget you're even reading it's that good. And her description is very lyrical, it's more flowing and smooth, somthing you expect in poems and short stories. But my absolutely favorite thing about this book was the complexity to it. I loved that there was a deeper message to this book, that if you thought hard and long about it, you'd realize that you could in a way connect it to your life. That perhaps you could learn a thing or two from Eden and everyone else. Also the forshadowing is very subtle in this book, if you aren't reading closeely enough you wouldn't really notice it but it's there, you just have to read between the lines. This book was addicting, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to read on and on and by the last page my emotions were on high and I was utterly speechless. The whole story left me in awe, so much was good about it, and so much of it was an emotional rollercoaster that I was exhausted by the end of it. But it will be hard to forget all that transpired in this book, the waiting for "Endless Magic" sure is going to be a long one.

Summary:

Eden is heart broken; distraught. She's been betrayed by the one person she gave her whole heart to; Kiran. But she's determined to strike revenge, she will rescue her brother Avalon; she will avenge her grandfather Amory's death. But the journey ahead of her is a long one; she must form alliances with those she knows little about. She will have to put trust in people she doesn't know. And she will have to change in order to go foward. But obstacles are thrown in her way from all sides and the magic building up inside her is becomeing near to unbearable. Eden will have to figure a way to unleash the pain and pint up magic inside her before it's too late.

Last thoughts:

So I know my summary is short but even from the start things were unveiled, I didn't want to spoil it from anyone. This is a book you'll have to read; to take my word on that it is fast paced and beautiful at the same time. The transfomation that starts to form in Eden in this book was both beautiful and dark. The twisted humor to causing its source is one to take to heart and try to unravel its meaning. And Eden wasn't the only character that made a transformation, some both shocked and excited me. To see these charcters take on a mind of their own was magical and fun in its on way. I would recommend this to any one who has either loved or liked the first two books in this series, you will not be disappointed. Also I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't even given this book a try, I say pick up "Eternal Eden" and see for yourself the world that Rachel has created. It's a beautiful and deepened world. Rachel definately has created a world that I want to continue to explore and learn more about. Now it's only a matter of the waiting period till "Endless Magic". I don't think January can get here fast enough.

Intersting Concept but has some Flaws...

First thoughts:

This book wasn’t as comical as the first book “Suck it Up” it had a more serious tone to it, the characters were more serious, they were put in dire situations that left little room for comic relief.  As for the character development it was minimum the only character that did any kind of major growing had to be Morning. He changed in a way to better fit the environment; to be someone that could make a difference. The writing itself was okay but at times I found myself disoriented from all the points of view changing. Something I really did enjoy about this book is the fact that a lot of questions I had in the first book were answered, I got some of the issues I was having with the first book resolved. The characters themselves really bothered me, for one Portia the one I used to like in the first book seemed to really annoy me in this one. She took on an attitude that just made her more unlikable. And as for an issue involving the other characters I found them flat at times but there were the points were they were lively and someone you could connect with and if they could have stayed that way the entire book I think I would have enjoyed it more. The plot was complicated and tricky; so much was going on in such a short time period that I found myself rushing to just absorb the newest information presented to the reader. Some positive aspects of this book are that it did conclude the storyline very well; it had a nice tied bow ending. Another one would be the fact that the idea itself was intriguing and wild, just the concept of the vampire itself was fun to read about. It definitely was a creative story and everyone involved was perfect for just what they were meant to do. In all it was an intriguing read and I’m glad it summed everything up.

 Summary:

This story picks up just after a year after the last book left off where Morning McCobb revealed to American that Vampires exist. He becomes famous for his revealing but the last thing he wants is that, he just wants to become a fire fighter and be with his love Portia. And soon things start to work out, Rachel takes over and tries to woo everyone with a new TV show but one woman has it out for the vampires. She believes they are evil creatures and are always going to succumb to their dark side.  And because of her position in Congress she holds a lot of influence and power over them and soon she becomes the Opposition. But on top of that Morning and Portia are having some problems of their own, they are out growing themselves, focused only on what is important at hand and soon that causes a rift between the two of them.

To add even more woe to the story a mysterious dark vampire appears and threatens the very lives of the vampires and humans. He secretly teams up with an important ally and the two of them become too powerful. So Morning is called up once again to help solve the problems but soon he learns something about himself and his breed that has been kept secret from everyone. Soon Morning gets wrapped up in trying to stay above the surface; to appease everyone but some things there are just things too big for one person to handle. What will become of Morning? Will he ever become what he’s meant to be? Or will he perish in the country’s time of need?
Last thoughts:
It was a good story overall, there were some flaws that one can overlook.  The description in the story was good, especially when he described “Mother Forest” I really thought he painted exactly what he pictured it would look like. Besides the whiplash I got from the characters point of view changing it was good to see the story in different points of views but it would have been better of the views shifted more smoothly instead of abruptly. I wouldn’t recommend this if you didn’t enjoy the first book, especially if you’re looking for comedy in this book, you won’t get it. But I would recommend this to you if you’re looking to tie up some loose ends from the first book and if you’re looking for a book where the world of vampires in a way is a bit more creative than others. But in all I enjoyed the read and was glad to have the story more concluded.  I want to thank Net galley for allowing me to read and review this book I’m just sad that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped.

A Page Turner for Sure!!

First thoughts:

What a perfect way to end the series, the ending was so beautiful and perfect that I was both left satisfied and happy. The story in this book was a great as the first two books. The characters if you can believe it developed even more and we were able to see a deeper look into them. The characters definately are three dimensional and lively, we are able to connect with them, to become emotional over them. As for the writing style, it was consistent with the first two books, Jessica Verday is talented in describing in short words of the world around the characters; to use such poetic words and feeling so that the reader can feel an even deeper bond to the world. I liked that everything was explained well, not one thing was left unsaid. I am sad to see this end though, I wish I could continue to visit this world; to continue being alongside Abbey and Caspian. There isn't much I would change with this book, if anything I wish to have the ending expanded more, just a bit not too much. I appreciate the character's will power and determination, they are people to idolize because they have done things that I wish I could have the guts to do. Some people are meant to be stronger and these characters definately were. My favotite thing about this book is the fact that you get so caught up in the world that you don't realize how fast time is moving in reality. I literally finished this book in a day. I had no sense of time, I was only focused on reading this book, no other thing mattered. It's something we all wish when reading a book and well to me this was one of those books.

Summary:

Abbey knows she's going to die but it's the matter of not knowing that's getting to her. All she wants it the best of both worlds. She loves Caspian deep down to her soul but she still has attachments to her life. She had plans; she wanted to open her own perfume shop in Sleepy Hallow but she knows those dreams are so far away. But as time grows thinner things begin to happen quickly, Abbey is losing touch with herself; she begins to doubt herself and the people around her. And most importantly she's losing Caspian. Somethings wrong but she can't figure it out. She would do anything to have him happy but what if it cost her somthing she never wanted to lose?
This third and final installment of the "Hallow" series is action and emotionally packed. It begins right where "Haunted" left off, not one thing is left unturned. This is a book sure to awe the fans of series and leave them feeling both satisfied and awed by the last page. Abbey and Caspian will be tested and thrown into battle but only one side can win, will it be them? Or will something dark and evil take over?

Last thoughts:

I'm glad this book had a bitter sweet ending. This has been a really good series that brings in an old tale but mixes it up with new flavors. The imagery in this book is very beautiful and lyrical. There's not much of this book I can say annoyed me. Even the antagonist didn't disappoint me, though I didn't feel much anger towards him I was able to connect to him in a way I hadn't in the first two books. This is both a shocking and fantastic read. I'd recommend it to any fan of the series and to those who enjoy a spooky yet fun read. To be forewarned there are some let's say "steamy" moments but Jessica describes them in such a poetic way that it makes it seem more magical than anything else. This is definately one to be put on the "to-read-shelf" you shouldn't miss out on such a great ending to an amazing series.

A Few Flaws but Great Story

First thoughts:

It a was a very interesting plotline; it was a different kind of paranormal than what I've been reading. There was one thing that bugged me though, I think it's just me who hates this but I think there was too much use of exclamation points in the dialogue, it made the line less alive and more flat. As for the character development, I really didn't see much, the character seemed to be comfortable with everything that happened; like she almost expected it. But there are times we get to see the softer side of the character and get to know her deeper side and inner fears but it isn't very often. It's like this character was strong from the beginning, there's little room for her to grow. But I really enjoyed the story itself. I found the idea itself intriguing and around the 155 page mark things really picked up and drew me into the characters world. There definately is a great concept behind this story and we did get to see one character change but it wasn't something that suprised me, I kind of expected him to change because who would like him otherwise? One thing I really did enjoy though is the relationship between Megan and Adam, I felt it was real; that there was definately something that drew them together. But I think my absolutely favorite character would have to be Fionn, I loved his personality; his protectiveness over the teenagers in this book. I really thought his character was pure, tainted only by the pain of his past. The author showed knowledge in the new world she created, the information was consistent with the characters and throughout the book. The world of these characters is one you'll soon not forget.

Summary:
Megan and her dad have just moved to Ireland but to her its just another move among many. Ever since her mother's death at the age of 6, they have kept moving, trying to make a fresh start. But this place is different, both of them can feel it. And soon Megan settles in at her new school, she makes friends easily and they seemed to enjoy thmeselves. But then a mysterious guy shows up in her life, he eyes her as does she. But the rumors about them are horrific; he's wierd, strange things come from his family; he's the talk of the town. But that doesn't divert Megan, she can't help but feel drawn to him.

but then something happens and the two of them come together, Megan learns who Adam is and how she is connected. The two of them are connected in more than one way but fate is unkind, the two of them were never meant to come together. Soon the two of them will be racing to find a way to stay together, to beat fate and all those who are against them.

Last thoughts:

I really did enjoy the story and want to continue to read more about them; to get to know them better; to see their weak sides. The description was beautiful though, she did seem to describe many things that helped us grip onto the picture of their world. I wouldn't recommend this to people who hate characters that fall instantly in love; you wouldn't enjoy this book. I for one did enjoy the realtionship of the two and due to a recent book I've read started to enjoy characters who fell hard for each other so quickly. This book takes some understanding; you must understand the characters themselves to fully appreciate what this story has to offer. And yes at times characters fell flat but the real magic of the book is the story itself. The concept is so fresh and interesting that its enough for me to continue reading futher, to see what lies in the fate of all the beloved characters. But in the end I did enjoy it and aside from a few flaws it was all worth the read.

Inspirational and Fuzzy

First thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book, it had so much realism to it. I really thought the relationship between Leigh and Brian was real, it wasn't rushed, forced or in any way unrealistic. I thought the world was fabricated perfectly, the emotions were real, the characers were as real as you and me. And though I'm not familiar with cancer and what it entitles, I felt this author was knowledgeable in creating a character who had it and was just in the first year of remission. Religion played a very key role in this book and it was really touching to see how each character approached the subject. The plot was perfect, not too fast yet not too slow. And though maybe not everything was promised a happy ending I do believe that it could be, I think it was up to the reader to draw the conclusions at the end, would Leigh ever get what she really wanted? The not knowing is the best part, it allows you to draw the ending you want. The character development was great, Leigh really changed by the end of the story, she came to terms with things she had been refusing at the beginning of the story; she came at peace and accepted what she was given. As for the writing itself, if flowed smoothly, there was enough dialogue to satisfy the reader but not too much to overwhelm them. But I really enjoyed the story, its one you can take to heart and realize that there is probably someone like Leigh out there and you could have what she has; a strong family. I found this was a really inspirational story to me, I could releate in so many ways; being on the edge...not knowing if you're going to take that leap...it was breathtaking.

Summary:

Leigh has had Ovarian Cancer but after being free from cancer for a year she's in remission but her body is still weak. But wanting freedom she goes off to college with her brother Jaron who is to keep an eye on her and will be living next door to her; them sharing a backyard.

But Leigh is happy, she is away from the watchful eyes of her mom and dad and finally living the life she wanted to a year ago. But soon she finds herself overwhelmed. She's hardly sleeping and eating, the math is overwhelming but she's determined. But to add to the stress guys from every direction are asking to be noticed; to give them a chance but she wants to only be focused on school, she wants her freedom. But soon the only thing she finds comfort in is her sewing, she loves it, its her passion; her life. It takes all the strength Leigh has to make it through the school year, she's weak and she knows that but its her spirit that will outshine anyone.

Brian her brothers best friends and roommate has his own background, he has a son named Nathan and an ex-wife that wants nothing to do with him. Being 25 he see's he's already been through so much, he's wondering when life will finally turn in the right direction. But when he see's Leigh everything inside of him lights up but refuses to let her know; he has his own baggage.

Can the two of them come together before its too late? Or will the two of them be doomed to live in the dark and suffer through the loss of something they held dear to their heart?

Last thoughts:

I could never summerize this book good enough. There was so much learned and discussed in this book that it would take you as the reader to grasp and understand. The way she described everything was perfect, it was beautiful in a way that I found myself gasping in awe and wanting to visit the places she described. This book has a strong connection to the reader, though you might not cry like I found myself in places it doesn't mean you didn't connect; perhaps you felt a stirring inside that caused a shift in emotions...something that made you look differently at something either in the story or perhaps your life. Whatever the case, I think Jolene Perry is talented with her words and cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us.

I want to thank Netgalley and the publishing company for allowing me to read and review this book, I feel so honored in more ways than one.

Shockingly Good

First thoughts:

At first glance I was iffy about this book, I just couldn't get immersed or adjusted to the authors writing style. It's different and after awhile it grew on me, the more the storyline developed the better the writing got. Soon I couldn't stop reading, I wanted to learn more, I wanted to see the end. The character development was subtle; it wasn't down right big but there was a change in the main character. As for the scenery, the author did a very good job on describing in detail of the characters surroundings, they were precise and to the tee. I was very much impressed with the amount of research that had to of gone in with this book. She was describing their town as if she lived there; like she was apart of it. The characters themselves were personalized, each was given a personality, giving a more real feel to the fabric of their world. As for the way they fell in love it could very much be believeable, I mean if you dreamed about a guy for pratically your whole life and met him in reality wouldn't you already feel you knew him? I sure would. But as of late I have been a sap for love stories so I'll leave it up to you on the matter at hand.

Summary:

Krista is different; she empathizes with everyone, anything can set her off. And as of late she has lost her adopted father and her adopted mother and her move to california hoping to escape the painful memories. And to make matters worse as of late she's been dreaming of a guy she loves being torn from her and each night she wakes up sobbing with grief. But upon enrolling in a private school Krista life changes forever. She meets Sam, someone who is eerily similar to her and they soon become inseperable. And when she arrives to history she meets him; the guy in her dreams. And instantly they are drawn to each other and they too are inseparable.

We are thus thrown into a world where Sam and Krista begin to make connections of similarites between the two of them. They both have dreamed of a guy and both of them have found them in real life. Soon the four of them discover something about themselves, something that is so important that even they didn't realize their true calling. In this first installment of the "Saving Angels" Series, Krista and Mark the guy she utterly loves and cannot be apart from battle for their lives and the answers that just might help them survive this madness. But will it be enough in the end? Or will they all fall before the game has even begun?

Last thoughts:

I finally fell in love with this book, it was really good, I especially enjoyed the action near the end, I literally found myself reading faster, wanting to read to the end and when I reached it I was yearning more of their story. One thing to take into consideration is to not give up on this book, trust me the further you read the better it gets. And by the end of it you'll be wanting more, you'll fall in love with the characters and will want to know more about them. This is definately for those of you who are a sucker for love stories with a touch of paranormalcy. One thing is for sure, Tiffany King is definately a author to be out on the look for. I'll be checking in on the sequel to this book, can't wait to explore their world more.

Captivating and Conclusive

First thoughts:

WoW! OMG! I loved this book, I didn't even think it was possible to love this book as much as the first two. I read this in a mere of hours, not wanting to put the book down, needing to see the conclusion to the fate of the character's I love so much. And what supriesed me the most in the book was that I really fell in love with Patrick. He was such an asset in this book, he definately stole some limelight now and then. I was very much satisfied with the ending and thought the outcome was what needed to be. The feeling of the book was much lighter than the first two (I even found myself breathing more often in this book than the others). I loved the full transformation of the character and there were many, I really loved the fact that they were slower, more understandable( I mean people don't change over night, am I right?) I really enjoyed how this book was separated, I didn't feel out of sorts, being yanked from one scene to another, it was nice and steady, action here and there and a pause. I absolutely loved the flow of this book, the smoothness of it, it really was something you could sit back and read and be relaxed(though at times I was at the edge of my seat, cringing on the purposed outcome) But in overall view the plot was plucked and perected to the tee and every leaf was unturned.

Summary:
Bryn and William finally think they can have it all; the council has finally granted a union between Byrn and a Hayward. But soon rumors fly that It's Bryn and Patrick that's going to be engaged. While oblivious to the rumors William is on cloud nine but after not only hearing the newest rumors she learned of a secret Patrick has kept from Bryn.

Bryn is on the ride of a lifetime as she races against all odds and finds her way into Union with William. She will stop at nothing to have him with her and while the others are after her she will fight to the death to make what's wrong right. But will Bryn and William see the day they will finally be united? Will they lose it all just to have each other?

Last thoughts:

Really thought out, the ending was perfect, the whole story was beautiful. I hate to let go of this world, just being new to it all but all great things must come to an end; that I do realize. But I do hope to perhaps see a prequel to this series, because the masterful and creative world Nicole has created shouldn't be wasted. I definately wouldn't mind seeing this world again, even if it means being in the perspective of someone else. But in all I loved this entire series, I thought it was amazing and page gripping. It is an eye candy to me, something that will be sitting on my kindle's virtual bookshelf for some time to come. I can't wait to read more from this author because she is new and fresh and I believe her writing can be an asset to the literature world.

Dark but Beautiful

First thoughts:

How did I read this book so fast?! I'm still trying to come to terms that its over, well at least this book is. Moving on, I have to say that this book was different than the first one; this one took more of toll on me, even at times I wanted to cringe away from the book; I didn't want to read further because what was happening to Bryn was just too horrific, I mean hasn't she been through enough?! Isn't there an unspoken rule that fate has to take a leave of absence once in awhile? Guess not. But either way I was touched by this book and yes at times I felt the need to cry and grab a tissue beside me. Nicole did a fatastic job on creating such great imagery and scenery that it was hard not to feel like you're in the story; that you're the character. We definately got to see some transformations of the characters and see a side of them we hadn't been granted in "Eternal Eden." I loved the story, I loved that it kept changing, that nothing was stalled in one place. This was a very powerful read for me, something that will stick in my mind for awhile to come now. But no matter how sad it was at times it had me absolutely beaming because I was like 'that's my Bryn, you're a strong one, you go girl!' I just loved how strong she became, I love everything about it, she isn't just a thin, flat character; a name on the page, she's a 4D girl all the way around. And to see a more darker outlooker on their world than in "Eternal Eden" was as interesting as the characters themselves.

Summary:

Bryn and William love each other; there's no doubt about that. But being a Taker is taking its toll on Bryn and when she comes close to killing William with her powers she escapes; she becomes the coward she thinks she is and leaves Montana and travels to Paris, putting as much distance between her and the one person she never wanted to leave.

But living in Paris is no easy task and just the pain of separation is enough to bring anyone down but soon she will be put to the test, she will be forced to tell the truth; to face her greatest fear in the midst of chaos but when it comes time to stop running what will she decide? What will she do?

Last thoughts:

This book is so much more than I could ever describe. And as always in this case the summary is short, to really get the sense of darkness and power you must read this on your own. It was beautiful, dark and twisted. No matter how much you want to put this book down you can't; you get hooked, reeled in for examination. But when you reach the last page all that pain, remorse or anger will be put aside. You will discover things you didn't even know about. And there's one thing for sure Nicole's writing is what made it so believeable; so powerful. Her writing is what made me immediately by "United Eden" right after I finished this one. It was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to find out the fate of Bryn and William in the final book.

This Book Changed Me....

First thoughts:

Okay so I'm going to be honest here and admit a flaw of myself. I started reading this book because I had just finished my last book and needed something to read between waiting from a shipment of books I ordered and I saw this on Amazon and thought 'why not?'. But when I started reading it I think my mind just wasn't in it, I wasn't captivated. And I wasn't a fan of Star Crossed lover books (most of the ones I read were just off the mark; they felt fake to me) But I kept reading and reading and I'm glad I did. Because when I reached the 30 percent mark things changed.I became a believer. I became immeresed in the book, I didn't want to stop reading, I neglected homework; chores. And my mind was just focused on this book and before I know it the days over and I'm finished. I loved the characters, I felt that the two main character's were compatiable in everyway; they fit togther so perfectly. And though there wasn't severe character development there was some and if you ask me, the less development in the first book of a series the better. I mean who wants a character make a full transformation in the first book of a three book series? Certainly not me. But as I was saying Nicole created a beautiful storyline; a storyline where a lot of things didn't go smoothly but I like that. I like bumpy roads. And wow, was this one a bumpy one. One thing I really enjoyed was the world that was created, it was fresh new and intriging; I didn't want to leave it. The world of these characters is beautiful and masterfully created. I definately have found a new favorite author of mine (lately that's been growing...I LOVE it!)

Summary:

Bryn has suffered tradegy throughout her entire life and six months after losing her parents and a near death experience Bryn is at OSU in Oregan. Being a new sophmore in a new college is just another part of her miserable life until she meets the myserious William; the guy who sweeps her out of this world and introduces her to something she never thought possible.

Together they will discover not only something about themselves but about the world around them. And as things keep being thrown in their path, together they will try and jump over them. But there's just some things that are too high to jump over. Will Bryn and William find a way to be together or will this new world tear them apart?

Last thoughts:

I know, short summary but I didn't want to reveal anything, its better to read it, to learn about them. Life isn't always going to be easy, sometimes you have to discover things on your own. And I think this book is one of them. This is something I would recommend to anyone who is a lover of true love, and though I want to say this isn't for those who hate Star crossed books I would be wrong; I was a nonbeliever too, but this book changed me. As soon as I finished it I went out and bought "Fallen Eden"(That's saying something, considering I just got in my shipment of books I've been dying to read). I totally loved this book and will be sequealing about it to my friends for days to come but one thing is for sure, Nicole Williams has an affinity for creating a great book and sucking in us romantics and showing us that it is possible to fall in love; it's just sometimes you have to be patient and be willing to go through HELL to be with them.

Beautiful and Inspiring

First thoughts:

What to say...had very good imagery incorporated throughout the storyline, seeing the landscapes that were created was breath taking. The authors use of language fit perfectly into what a grieving person would say, do and feel. It felt really realistic; the characters didn't heal instantly and the conflicts that were introduced page after page would leave me in a puddle on the ground. But the author created strong characters; people I would in a wierd way idolize. Because in the end everyone has their own way of grieving and the deck they were handed was much greater than one I could envision. Something I really enjoyed was the character development, I loved to see a weak character become someone strong; someone willing to fight. And while said character was evolving a sense of their old character still shone through. The plot was exciting throughout; not of course in the thriller sense of exciting but in a sense that things kept happening, there was hardly a time the character had a breather before something new was introduced. But in essence the story was created beautifully and I loved the christian feel to it; I loved that questions were brought up and depicted how the author saw fit.

Summary:

Melanie and Andie come from two different lives. While Andie lives in luxary, a loving son named Chad and a husband who provided the "Bacon" for the house; she needn'th worry about providing for her family. She didn't even have to work. But for melanie a single mom of two; Jeff and Sarah, she works at the local grocery store as a price checker. She can barely provide for her family; but she's making due. These two unlikely people are brought together by the unthinkable. Both their sons are killed in a car accident, only the kids to blame.

This story really blossoms when the accident happens and we are brought into the worlds of these two moms. We are able to see the perspective of the moms and how they deal with their loss. And while Melanie doesn't believe in God she soon is introduced to the world her son and daughter are immeresed in. Melanie questions all she believes in and perhaps see's that the greatest gift of all is "God".

As for Andie a believer of God she deals with her husband Blair, a husband who has sapped her of life and soon she learns that Art is the only way to release the tension; the pain. And while her world falls apart she will on her own and with the help of God discover that its time to stand up and be who she is meant to be.

But will the two come together and forgive the other? Or will their hatred; pain cause a ripple in their lives? Leaving them bitter and sad?

Last thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book and though I thought it ended a little too quickly, I still liked the fact that not everything was necessarly solved. I loved the writing style; the concept of the two women and the development of something beautiful. I can't wait to discove some other writings by Kathryn. This is a book for any christian but be warned there are a lot of things brought up about God so if you feel uncomfortable reading in that kind of depth this is not a book for you. But in all I enjoyed this book and I feel a renewed sense of my faith.

Reviving Characters

First thoughts:

I went into reading this book with high hopes and I wasn't disappointed. I've loved all eight other book installments by Maria V. Snyder and was excited to read the summary for this one. From the first page I read, I was hooked. The character's journey is long and difficult, one I enjoyed being alongside. I loved that there was some characters that were rough, meaning they were shady characters, characters we didn't fall in love with the first moment we met them. But then there was some characters you instantly clicked, characters I wish to be friends with. But in all the characters were well developed and formed throughout the entire book. As for the plot, there's so many twists and turns, things that you don't even see until they're smack dab in your face; I loved it! As for the writing style, just as beautiful as ever; captivating in that it paints a story of a struggle both mental and physical. The reading pace was slow for me, I really wanted to soak everything in, why rush a good book right? But in all I loved every minute of it and love it just as much as her other books.

Summary:

Avery is a Healer, she can heal someone with a touch to the victim but the price is big. To heal someone she must take on whatever is wrong with them and take it in herself but thankfully she heals ten times faster than anyone else. But something has gone amiss in her world, Healers are being blamed for the plagaue that's killed many and Healers are the enemy; being hunted and excuted when caught. And the worst part of this all is she is utterly alone, her father and brother are dead, her mother and sister are missing and she's on the run from the guards, moving from location to location, healing when she can and escaping with her life just barely.

But after being on the run for three years fate catches up with her; she's been caught, thrown in prision and awaiting execution. But the unthinkable happens she's kidnapped from her cell, a rugged looking guy and 4 others await her help. They've saved her life but demand something in return; she must heal the man she hates the most. Ryne is dying of the plague but is frozen in a state to freeze the progression of the disease but what most don't know, healers can heal someone from the plague but at the cost of their own life.

Being dragged along the journey to Ryne, she is learning more and more about the people who have kidnapped her and along the way she'll discover not only more about them but something about herself. But can they convience her to heal someone that could save them all?

Last thoughts:

Loved this story, cannot wait to be taken back to their world in the second book. Totally recommend it to any Maria V. Synder fans out there; this is definately a book that won't disappoint. It's creative, intriguing and best of all unique. The characters are full of life and the world around them is painted in a light that very much gives a clear picture of where they are. It's a book to bring out frustration, anger, happiness, sadness, definately a all around good book.

One last thing I'd like to thank Harlequin and Netgalley for allowing me to read this early!!

Happy reading to all and I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
